Guar Gum Exporter from India

Refined and treated guar gum powder from Rajasthan, India's dominant world source — food-grade and industrial-grade, with documented EU testing compliance.

Quick answer: Green Plus EXIM exports Indian guar gum (refined split and treated/pulverized powder), sourced from Rajasthan — India is the dominant world origin for this product. The USA, Russia, Germany and China are the leading markets, split between food/pharma-grade thickener demand and industrial demand (notably oilfield fracturing fluid). Export is currently Free, with a specific EU documentation requirement (PCP testing) explained below.

Indian guar gum for export

India supplies the large majority of the world's guar gum, and Rajasthan — specifically the Bikaner, Jodhpur and Hanumangarh belt — is where most of that comes from. We supply both refined-split and treated/pulverized (powder) guar gum, tested and graded by viscosity and mesh size to your specification.

Guar is a monsoon (kharif) crop, harvested September to November, but because processed guar gum stores well in sealed packaging, we supply it year-round from stored seed stock — one of the more schedule-flexible products in our range.

Guar gum export policy and EU documentation

Guar gum export is Free under Indian policy — India's dominance of world supply means this has never been a constrained product. There is one specific documentation requirement worth knowing about if you're buying for the EU: following a 2012 industry-wide episode involving pentachlorophenol (PCP) contamination traces found in some shipments, EU-bound guar gum for food, feed or human-consumption use now requires an analytical report testing for PCP, endorsed by SHEFEXIL (the Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council, Kolkata). We arrange this as standard documentation on EU orders — it isn't a barrier, just a step to plan for in your timeline.

How should I specify guar gum?

  • Grade. Food/pharma-grade for thickening and stabilizing applications, or industrial-grade for oilfield and technical uses — the end use changes the spec.
  • Viscosity. Typically 3000–6000 cps for food grade, 5000+ cps for industrial — tested per batch and shown on the certificate of analysis.
  • Mesh size. 80 through 300 mesh — finer mesh hydrates faster, which matters more for some industrial applications than others.

Which markets buy Indian guar gum?

The USA is the largest market, with Russia, Germany and China also significant — a mix of food/pharma thickener demand and industrial (fracturing-fluid) demand. Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Italy, Brazil and Indonesia round out a genuinely global buyer base.

Notes on this data

HIGH CONFIDENCE — primary-tier (WITS/UN Comtrade). India world total 2024: USD 417.32M across ~239,920 MT. India is the dominant world origin for guar gum. Markets are industrial/Western (USA ~23%, Russia, Germany, China) and demand is partly tied to oil & gas fracturing fluid as well as food-grade thickener use — worth splitting those buyer personas in content. Strong candidate for German- and Russian-language market pages, and notable as one of the few products here where Russia is a top-3 market.

Indian sourcing regions

Rajasthan — particularly the Bikaner, Jodhpur and Hanumangarh belt — grows the large majority of India's guar seed and hosts most processing capacity. Haryana and Gujarat add smaller volumes. Guar is a kharif (monsoon) crop, harvested September–November, and processing/export runs year-round from stored seed stock, which is why guar gum is one of the few products we supply with no significant seasonal gap.

Export documentation

Export documentation prepared to match destination-country and buyer requirements — phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, fumigation certificate, lab test reports and more, as applicable.

  • Certificate of analysis — viscosity, mesh size, moisture
  • Certificate of origin
  • Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading
  • SHEFEXIL-endorsed PCP analytical report (mandatory for EU-bound food/feed/human-consumption shipments)

Share your compliance checklist and we will confirm the documentation for your shipment. Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or your nominated agency) can be arranged on request.

Guar Gum export FAQs

Yes — guar gum export is Free under Indian policy. India is the dominant global source, so this is not a product where availability is in question.

Food/pharma-grade guar gum is refined to tighter viscosity, protein and microbial specifications for use as a thickener and stabilizer in food, pharma and cosmetics. Industrial-grade (often higher viscosity, less refined) is used mainly in oilfield hydraulic fracturing fluid and some paper/textile applications. Tell us your end use and we'll quote the appropriate grade.

Following a 2012 industry-wide contamination episode involving pentachlorophenol (PCP) traces in some guar gum shipments, EU-bound guar gum intended for food, feed or human consumption now requires an analytical report testing for PCP, endorsed by SHEFEXIL (the Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council, Kolkata). We handle this as standard documentation for EU orders.

80, 100, 200 and 300 mesh are common — finer mesh (higher number) hydrates faster, which matters for some industrial applications. Tell us your target mesh and viscosity range.

Partly — industrial-grade guar gum is a key thickener in hydraulic fracturing fluid, so demand from markets like the USA and Russia has some correlation with drilling activity, alongside steady food/pharma demand that's less cyclical.

Roughly 18–20 MT in a 20ft container (25kg bags) and 21–24 MT in a 40ft, depending on bag density.

One 20ft container. Ask about trial quantities for a first order.
