Frozen Seafood Exporter from India

Frozen vannamei and black tiger shrimp, ribbonfish, mackerel, squid and cuttlefish — IQF or block, count-graded, cold-chain managed.

Quick answer: Green Plus EXIM exports Indian frozen seafood — vannamei and black tiger shrimp, ribbonfish, Indian mackerel, squid and cuttlefish, pomfret and sardines — block-frozen or IQF, count-graded and shipped at −18°C or below. Frozen shrimp is India's largest seafood export line, with the USA, China and the EU the leading markets. Antibiotic residue testing and third-party inspection available on request.

Indian frozen seafood for export

India is one of the world's largest seafood exporters, and the business divides into two quite different operations: farmed shrimp — overwhelmingly vannamei from Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring aquaculture belts — and wild-caught marine fish and cephalopods landed along both coasts.

We supply frozen vannamei and black tiger shrimp, ribbonfish, Indian mackerel, squid and cuttlefish, pomfret and sardines, processed near the landing and farming centres and shipped from Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Kochi and Nhava Sheva.

Cold chain is the whole business

Frozen seafood arrives in the condition its cold chain allowed. Product is frozen and held at −18°C or below, unbroken, from processing through to your cold store. We can supply reefer temperature logs and data-logger records on request — and we'd encourage asking for them, from us or any supplier.

Compare quotes on the same basis

Seafood, and shrimp especially, is where quotes most often look comparable but aren't. Three things have to match:

  • Product form — HOSO, HLSO, PD, PUD, PDTO or cooked. Yields differ substantially.
  • Count size — pieces per pound. 16/20 and 41/50 are different products.
  • Glaze and net weight — a price on gross weight with 20% glaze is roughly 20% more expensive than the same number on net weight. Always confirm which basis you're being quoted.

See our frozen vannamei shrimp page for the full specification framework.

Testing and regulatory scrutiny

Seafood is among the most closely regulated products in international food trade. The USA, EU and Japan all apply antibiotic residue controls on farmed shrimp, and rejections are costly for both sides. We arrange residue and microbiological testing on request, and third-party inspection (sgs, bureau veritas, intertek or your nominated agency) can be arranged on request.

Share your compliance checklist and we will confirm the documentation for your shipment. See our quality and compliance process for how testing fits into the shipment timeline.

Fish & Seafood export FAQs

Frozen shrimp, by a wide margin — primarily farmed vannamei from Andhra Pradesh, with black tiger also produced. The United States is the single largest destination market, followed by China and the European Union.

Both. IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) suits retail and portion-controlled foodservice; block freezing suits further processing. Specify which you need — they price differently.

Glazing is a protective ice coating applied after freezing, typically 0%, 10% or 20% of gross weight. We quote net weight excluding glaze and state the glaze percentage separately, because quoting on gross weight is the most common way shrimp prices are made to look artificially competitive.

Yes. For the USA, EU and Japan this is standard practice and we'd recommend it regardless of destination. Tell us the market early so the correct test panel is used.

Yes — SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or your nominated agency can be arranged before loading.

Health certificate (required by most seafood-importing markets), certificate of origin, residue and microbiological test reports, traceability documentation on request, plus standard commercial documents. Tell us your import requirements and we'll confirm what we can provide.
