Rice & Grain Exporter from India
Basmati and non-basmati rice, maize, wheat and millets — sortex-cleaned, bagged or bulk.
Quick answer: Green Plus EXIM exports Indian rice and grains — 1121 and Pusa basmati (raw, steam, sella, golden sella), parboiled non-basmati, maize, wheat and millets including jowar, bajra and ragi. Rice is sortex-cleaned and packed in 5–50kg bags or private-label retail packs. Important: India's export policy on certain grains changes frequently — non-basmati white rice is currently prohibited for export — so we confirm what is permitted at the time of your enquiry.
Indian rice and grains for export
Rice is the centrepiece of this category and the product where India's global position is strongest — India exported 6.52 million MT of basmati worth US$5.67 billion in 2025-26 (APEDA). Beyond basmati, we handle parboiled non-basmati, maize, wheat and the millet group (jowar, bajra, ragi), all sortex-cleaned and packed to your specification.
Export policy matters enormously in this category
More than any other category we handle, grains are subject to active Indian government export management. As things stand, non-basmati white rice remains prohibited for export — a restriction in place since 2023. Parboiled rice is permitted but has carried an export duty. Wheat has swung between prohibition and free export more than once.
We track this continuously, and we'd rather tell you a product isn't currently exportable than take an order we can't lawfully fulfil. When you enquire, we confirm the current position for your specific product before quoting.
Specifying rice properly
Rice quotes are only comparable when the specification matches. The parameters that matter:
- Variety — 1121, Pusa 1509/1401, traditional basmati, or the specific non-basmati type.
- Processing — raw, steam, sella (parboiled) or golden sella. These are different products.
- Average grain length in mm, before cooking.
- Broken percentage — 1%, 2%, 5%.
- Moisture — ≤12–13%.
- Purity — percentage of the stated variety in the lot.
- Aging — 12 or 24 months, where relevant.
Our basmati rice page goes through each of these in detail.
Packing and loading
Standard export packing is 5kg to 50kg PP, BOPP or jute bags, with non-woven and cloth bags available and private-label retail packs supported for branded programmes. Grain loading is weight-limited — around 24–26 MT in a 20ft — so the container fills by weight well before it fills by volume. Use our container loading calculator for a planning estimate.

Grains & Rice export FAQs
It depends on the type. Non-basmati white rice has been prohibited for export since 2023 and that prohibition remains in force. Parboiled non-basmati rice is permitted but has carried an export duty. Basmati rice is freely exportable. We confirm the current position at the time of your enquiry rather than quoting against an assumed policy.
1121 basmati has the longest grain (8.30–8.40mm average before cooking) and the strongest post-cooking elongation. Pusa varieties (1509, 1401) are slightly shorter and price lower. Traditional basmati is a separate premium category. See our basmati rice page for full specifications.
Yes — jowar (sorghum), bajra (pearl millet) and ragi (finger millet) are available. Millet demand has grown in health-food and gluten-free channels, and India is the largest global producer of several millet types.
Roughly 24–26 MT in a 20ft and 26–28 MT in a 40ft. Rice loading is weight-limited rather than volume-limited, so a 20ft container is often the efficient unit.
Yes — private-label retail packs (1kg, 5kg, 10kg) are a common request for rice, and buyer artwork is supported. See our private label and bulk supply page.
Indian wheat export policy has changed repeatedly — it was under prohibition for an extended period. Ask us for the current position before planning a wheat programme; we won't quote as though the policy were settled when it isn't.
