Grapes Exporter from India

Thompson Seedless and Flame Seedless table grapes from Nashik and Sangli, pre-cooled and reefer-shipped with SO₂ pads.

Quick answer: Green Plus EXIM exports fresh table grapes from India — mainly Thompson Seedless, Flame Seedless and Sonaka — packed in 4.5kg or 5kg punnets/cartons with SO₂ generator pads and shipped at 0–2°C. The Netherlands, Russia, the UK, the UAE and Bangladesh are India's leading grape markets. The export season runs roughly January to April. MOQ is one 20ft reefer container.

Indian table grapes for export

India's grape export business is built on timing. The season runs roughly January to April, filling the window between the end of Southern Hemisphere supply and the start of Northern Hemisphere harvests — which is why Nashik fruit ends up in European retail programmes despite an 18–28 day sea transit.

We supply Thompson Seedless, Flame Seedless, Sonaka and (seasonally) Crimson Seedless, pre-cooled promptly after harvest, packed with SO₂ generator pads, and shipped at 0–2°C.

What makes or breaks a grape shipment?

  • Pre-cooling speed. Grapes need field heat removed fast. Fruit that sits warm before pre-cooling loses shelf life you can never get back, no matter how well the container is set.
  • SO₂ pad management. Sulphur dioxide pads suppress botrytis over a long transit. Too little and you get mould; too much and you get bleaching. Packing specification should match the transit length to your port.
  • Residue compliance. For EU and UK buyers, pesticide residue testing isn't optional in practice. Agree it before shipment.
  • Berry size consistency. 16–18mm and 18mm+ are the common export grades. Mixed sizing within a carton is a frequent complaint on cheaper offers — specify your grade and we'll quote against it.

Which markets buy Indian grapes?

The Netherlands is the principal European entry point (from where fruit redistributes across the EU), with Russia and the UK also taking significant volume, alongside the UAE and Bangladesh in regional markets. The data below shows what the available source reports — note that this particular dataset gives a ranked destination list without per-country values, so we've published the ranking rather than inventing figures to fill the gaps.

Grape export pricing

Grape pricing moves sharply within the short season — early-season fruit, peak-season volume and late-season tail all price differently, and reefer freight to Europe is a large share of landed cost. Send your variety, berry size, quantity and destination port for a current FOB or CIF quote.

Notes on this data

Replaces an earlier dataset that had 5 country names but every value_usd/qty field null (private aggregator seair.co.in gave only an ordered destination list, no verifiable figures) — completely unusable for a market-data table. This WITS/UN Comtrade pull is the same primary-tier source used across the site's other 20+ trade-data files. Netherlands alone is ~39% of India's total fresh-grape export value, consistent with its role as the main EU re-distribution hub for Indian grapes. Full India world total for HS 080610, calendar 2023: USD 328,773,000 / 284,269,000 kg across 49 destination countries.

Indian sourcing regions

Nashik district in Maharashtra is India's table-grape capital and supplies the bulk of export volume, with Sangli, Solapur and Pune districts adding significant tonnage, plus some production from Karnataka (Bijapur, Bagalkot). Nashik's established export infrastructure — pre-cooling units, packhouses and residue-testing labs — is a large part of why Indian grapes reach European retail programmes at all.

Export documentation

Export documentation prepared to match destination-country and buyer requirements — phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, fumigation certificate, lab test reports and more, as applicable.

  • Phytosanitary certificate
  • Certificate of origin
  • Pesticide residue / lab test report (effectively required for EU and UK)
  • Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading
  • Reefer temperature log / data logger (on request)

Share your compliance checklist and we will confirm the documentation for your shipment. Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or your nominated agency) can be arranged on request.

Grapes export FAQs

Thompson Seedless is the mainstay, with Flame Seedless and Crimson Seedless covering red-grape demand and Sonaka (a Thompson selection) also widely exported. Availability by variety shifts through the season.

The export window is short and concentrated — roughly January through April, peaking February–March. India's advantage is that this fills a gap when Southern Hemisphere supply is winding down and Northern Hemisphere fruit isn't ready.

0–2°C with 90–95% relative humidity, with SO₂ generator pads inside the carton to control botrytis. Prompt pre-cooling after harvest is critical — it's the difference between 30 days of shelf life and 60.

Sulphur dioxide generator pads suppress botrytis (grey mould) during the long sea transit to Europe. Some markets and some buyers have specific requirements around SO₂ levels — tell us yours and we'll pack accordingly.

Yes — 500g and 1kg punnets packed inside master cartons are standard for retail programmes, and buyer artwork is possible. See our packaging and labelling options.

Typically 18–28 days from Indian west-coast ports to Northern European ports, which is why cold chain management and SO₂ pads matter so much on this route. Ask for a current transit estimate to your port.

Yes, on request. For EU and UK destinations we strongly recommend agreeing residue testing before shipment — it is the most common rejection cause on this route across Indian fresh produce.
